Manchester City could reportedly see two big players leave the club during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Over the past few years, lots of big-name players have left the Manchester club such as Ilkay Gundogan, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez, among others.

With the next summer transfer period on the horizon, two current figures in Pep Guardiola’s ranks have been mentioned with potential exits from the Etihad Stadium.

A recent report from The Athletic had this to say on the matter.

It said: “Either Bernardo [Silva] or Kevin De Bruyne, possibly both, could leave this summer and City are making transfer plans with that in mind.”

De Bruyne, who is the longest-serving player in the City squad since arriving in 2015 for £54m, has made 377 appearances for the Manchester club across all competitions, scoring 102 goals and delivering 168 assists.

Then with Silva, who the club paid £43m to sign back in 2017, he has racked up 350 appearances for City in all competitions, finding the back of the net 66 times and supplying 62 assists.

It would be a big blow to see Bernardo Silva or Kevin De Bruyne leave City this summer

Focusing on this season, while the Belgian may have missed a large chunk of it through injury, the fact that he has scored four goals and provided eight assists in just 14 Premier League appearances shows how crucial he can be for the team.

After seeing Silva score the winning goal in City’s FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea last month, Guardiola said that the Portuguese international makes him feel safe due to his intelligence when it comes to keeping hold of the ball.

Taking all of that on board, we feel that regardless of what plans the club may have in the pipeline for potential incoming transfers this summer, the prospect of seeing either Silva or De Bruyne leave City at the end of the season would be a big blow for the team.
