Chelsea have tabled £51m bid for ‘extraordinary’ midfielder who’s just like Toni Kroos
You can expect Chelsea to be back in the transfer market this summer as Todd Boehly continues to be linked with more signings in the coming few months – and it seems they are already making moves.
Boehly has become renowned for his ‘Football Manager’-like approach to transfer windows, spending big on a number of players and having them huge contracts, in terms of length. Some signings have worked.
Cole Palmer is the obvious one. He has been sensational. Nicolas Jackson has 12 goals this season and there are other examples. Many haven’t worked out, failing to buy players to give them what they need.
This summer, Chelsea are still likely to be active but it might be more that Boehly needs to sell players before buying – in order to ease Financial Fairplay concerns and make some room in the bloated squad.
Midfield and notably, the 10 role could be an area that Chelsea look to invest in. A striker is also likely despite a half-decent start to life from Jackson. Players could go, Conor Gallagher linked with an exit.
If Gallagher goes, then Teun Koopmeiners could be the man they go after to replace him. The Dutch star is in the best form of his life. Since joining his side Atalanta, he has had a hand in 39 goals in 116 games.
Of those 39 involvements, 17 have come this term. Reports say Spurs want Koopmeiners, who is rated at £51m. A player that his agent Bert Baving has been likened to Real Madrid and Germany star Toni Kroos.
Now, a report from Italian outlet Sport Mediaset claim Chelsea have tabled a £51m bid for Koopmeiners, ahead of the summer. It comes after the “extraordinary” star sparkled at Anfield last Thursday night.
The chances are, Koopmeiners is on his way to England this summer. Could he be tempted by Chelsea who may struggle to get themselves into Europe? Liverpool and Tottenham seems much more likely.
