President William Ruto has extended his deepest condolences to those who lost their loved ones in the anti-government protests that went on for over two weeks.

During an impromptu press briefing at Statehouse on Friday afternoon, president Ruto also wished a quick recovery to all those who were left with injuries during the period.

“The government of Kenya will support all those who have lost their lives and those who have been injured,” he said, adding that, ” Despite all these as nation we are discussing issues. We are not discussing tribes or political formations, but rather we are discussing issues that affect each and everyone of us.”

Such issues include corruption, unemployment, and opportunities for all Kenyans, the young people included.

On the issue of public debts, the head of state announced that  he has appointed an Independent Taskforce to carry out a forensic audit on the country’s debt and provide a report in three months time

“We will propose to the National Assembly a budget cut of Ksh 177B and borrow the difference. Whatever we are going to borrow will increase our fiscal deposit from 3.4% of our GDP to 4.6% of GDP which is still lower than last year,” he also said .

“In keeping up with the austerity measures we promised, 47 State corporations with overlapping and duplicating functions to be dissolved and affected staff to be transferred to other ministries.”

He further revealed that he had reduced the number of his advisors by 50%
