Emir of Lafia donates N5m to alma mater

The Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad 1 (retd.) has donated N5 million to his alma mater, Government Science School Lafia, as support to equip its science laboratory.

He made the donation on Friday to commemorate his 5th year anniversary on the throne as the 17th Emir of Lafia.

Sidi Bage, a member of the Class 1974 set, said the gesture was to continue sustaining the legacy of the school to improve on the performance of more generations to come.

He said he was looking forward to inviting his friends and well-wishers to extend their hands of fellowship in the development of the school.

The emir charged students of the school to be hard-working and dedicated to their studies in order to succeed.

In his remarks, the national president of the alma mater, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, expressed gratitude to members of Lafia Old Boys Association (LOSA) for the love they had been showing to the school.

He said the effort towards the donation of N1 billion was to enhance infrastructure development and quality of education in the school.

Shuaib disclosed that the association “has so far raised more than N100 million towards giving the school a facelift,” and congratulated the emir for his 5th year journey as the 17th Emir of Lafia.

Also speaking, the sole administrator of the GSS Lafia, Abubakar Kana, appreciated the school’s P.T.A. led by Mohammed Mailafiya for their untiring efforts in assisting the ministry in running the school.

Kana appealed to the royal father, the ministry of education and prominent sons and daughters as well as philanthropists to assist the school in the areas of science equipment and technical tools.

He also called for the posting of senior experienced science teachers to the school, as well as the renovation and provision of boreholes to the staff quarters to enhance staff welfare
