Fubara Feared His Impeachment Would Take Place In Assembly, It Led To Burning The Place- Tony Okocha

In an interview with The Sun, a leader of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, asserted that the reason why the state assembly complex was set on fire was Fubara’s fear that he would be impeached through the Assembly. He said that it is the right time to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State. He said that once a contradiction reaches the point of rupture, it would simply blow apart.  He issued a dire warning, saying that an explosion is the unavoidable outcome given the inconsistencies in Rivers State, which have reached the point of rupture. Quoting him, “How did the Assembly Complex get burned? On the day the House of Assembly complex was burned, Governor Fubara mounted the rostrum at Government House and announced to the whole world that they wanted to impeach him. This means that it was the reason of his impeachment that he feared that was going to take place in the Assembly complex that led to the burning of the place.

Now, you are the governor; the structure housing the legislative arm went into flames, and you took your time, went to the place, came to Government House, and politicized the whole thing. Okocha further accused Fubara of never forming a panel or committee to investigate the reason for the explosion and then making it public.  He said that, as if it was not already destructive enough, Fubara went to court to obtain an injunction allowing him to pull down the portion of the Assembly complex that the fire did not burn.

He said that the following morning, Fubara was there overseeing the Assembly complex’s destruction. He lamented the fact that Fubara is currently rebuilding the complex with N19 billion from Rivers State funds.
