Where is the farthest you can fly from Nashville International Airport?
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Ready to go on vacation? Whether you plan on traveling across state lines or thousands of miles away, the Nashville International Airport (BNA) offers several routes to travelers departing from Music City.
There are various airlines that offer scheduled flights to major travel hubs across the nation. Data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics revealed that the most common domestic destinations from BNA include Hartsfield-Atlanta International Airport, Denver International Airport, and Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Yet, there are flights from the Tennessee capital that will take you directly to places like London, Cancun, and other European travel hotspots.
Make sure you have your neck pillow, eye mask, and headphones before boarding this eight hour flight.
As of this writing, the longest international flight out of BNA is to Heathrow Airport in London. The flight is an estimated 2,290 miles and is operated by British Airways.
In fact, the first flight from London to Nashville landed in 2018. Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority president and CEO Douglas Kreulen estimated that the non-stop flight would generate between $70 and $100 million in additional business.
According to data from Nashville International Airport, there are eight international nonstop routes offered at BNA.
Location | Airport | Airline |
Calgary, Canada | YYC | WestJet |
Edmonton, Canada | YEG | WestJet |
Montreal, Quebec, Canada | YUL | Air Canada |
Toronto, Canada | YYZ | Air Canada, Flair, WestJest |
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada | YVR | WestJet |
London, England | LHR | British Airways |
Cancun, Mexico | CUN | Southwest, Spirit, Viva Aerobus |
San Juan, Puerto Rico | SJU | Southwest |
However, airport officials say they plan to expand that list in the future to include more European counties.
In May, the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority told News 2 they were working to fill BNA’s new international terminal with nonstop flights to overseas destinations.
According to Airport Authority President and CEO Douglas Kreulen, the team has its eyes set on six European countries.
Earlier this year, the airport officially opened a new satellite concourse. Kreulen says the airport currently accommodates 35 million passengers a year, but expects BNA will be able to support up to 70 million passengers by 2035.
