The Nigerian Army has noted with concern the spread of an audio-visual recording on various online platforms, falsely suggesting that the army is enlisting Islamic fundamentalists and jihadists.

According to spokesman for the Army Major General Onyema Nwachukwu the recording erroneously depicts an officer urging young Muslim men to join the Army to protect and promote Islam.

He said the narrative is a gross misrepresentation of the army’s values and standards.

General Nwachukwu explained that the content of the recording appeared to be deliberately designed to incite fear, sow discord, and undermine public trust in the Army particularly among Christian and non-Muslim communities.
