Plateau: Suspected reprisal attack claims the life of 2 in Irigwe Land

Irigwe Land in Plateau State faced a tragic incident on the night of 21st June. An attack claimed the lives of two residents and left another severely injured in Kpara village. The victims were Mr. Friday Mangwa, aged 28, and Mrs. Deborah Monday, aged 40. Mrs. Keziah Friday, 20, sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving medical care.

“The attack, believed to be a reprisal by suspected Fulani herders, was in response to the earlier discovery of two deceased Fulani herders.” Sam Jugo said

Sam Jugo who is the National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA) added that: “This has left the community in mourning and deeply affected.” Said Jugo

In response to this senseless violence, the Rigwe traditional council, the President and Executive Committee members of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), and the entire Rigwe nation have expressed their condemnation of this act. They emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and urged all parties to seek redress through lawful means.

Security forces, including the Operation Safe Haven team, have been deployed to restore calm and ensure justice is served. The Rigwe nation stands together in emphasizing the need for peaceful cohabitation and rejecting acts of violence.
