'The referee has to put limits': Paraguay boss slams Vini Jr for showboating

tribuna.com 3 days ago

Vinicius Jr produced a fantastic performance in Brazil’s 4-1 win over Paraguay in their second Copa America group game.

He scored a brilliant brace to inspire his side to the win. But it appears that the Real Madrid star infuriated the Paraguay players by showboating and displaying his trickery.

Vini completed seven dribbles and often embarrassed defenders by tapping into his Joga Bonito skills. He tried rainbow flicks or nutmegging defenders to entertain the Brazilian supporters.

That has infuriated the Paraguay manager Daniel Garnero, who reacted after the game: “He has a way of playing that is obviously not very comfortable for opponents to accept, but that’s what the referee is for. The referee has to put those limits on him.”

The Paraguayan team are clearly bitter to be humiliated by Vini Jr, who is perhaps lucky to avoid injuries from the aggressive opponents.

The Real Madrid winger needs to continue his impressive form and help Brazil win the Copa America to significantly boost his chances of winning the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
