Troops kill two terrorists, recover arms, ammunition in Borno

Troops of Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have killed two terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition in the hideouts of Kwatan Dowoshi, Kukawa Local Council of Borno State.

The arms and ammunition were recovered during a covert military operation on July 8, in Kwatan Dowoshi community. MNJTF spokesperson, Lt-Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement yesterday.

He said: “Our troops also recovered several arms, including seven AK-47 rifle magazines, 148 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and four magazine carriers.

“Other items recovered from the terrorists included 172 tax and levy receipts for farmers and fishermen living on the shores of Lake Chad.

“Two Baofeng radios and a large quantity of assorted drugs were also seized from the terrorists.” He noted that the significant recoveries of weapons and supplies will disrupt the terrorist group’s ability to carry out attacks in the region.

In a related development, five terrorists on July 11, surrendered to troops of the task force in Wulgo, comprising Cameroonian and Nigerian forces.

Abdullahi said the surrendered terrorists are from Tunbouma and Kutungulla villages in Marte Local Council of the state.He explained that the surrendered terrorists were undergoing profiling and further investigation.
