Around 3:09 a.m. on Sunday, a homeowner on Madera Court reported a man trying to open the front door of the residence. Upon arrival at the scene, Woodland officers said they found the suspect in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.

The man reportedly led police on a chase that resulted in a crash at the intersection of Beamer Street and Walnut Street, according to WPD. The suspect “plowed through obstacles including a decommissioned utility pole, street signs, and even cacti, disabling the stolen vehicle.”

WPD said that despite attempting to flee on foot, the suspect was apprehended with the assistance of a police K9 just a few houses away. He was found to be driving under the influence and had minor injuries that were treated by medical staff.

He was booked at Yolo County Jail for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle, driving while under the influence, and other related charges.
