The State Minister of Finance, Henry Musasizi, has hailed the family of the late Apollo Nyegamahe for sustaining his business legacy one year after his tragic death.

Minister Musasizi made the remarks today while speaking at the memorial service for the late Nyegamahe, who was better known as. Aponye, at St Luke Muhanga Catholic Parish in Muhanga town, Rukiga District.

The mass was presided over by Msgr John Vianny Sunday, vicar general Kabale Diocese.

The late Aponye, who was also the Rukiga NRM chairperson, died on July 1, 2023 in a car crash at Itojo, along Ntungamo-Mbarara road.

According to Ben Tukwasiibwe, head of communication at Aponye Uganda Ltd, the company of late Aponye employs up to 500 people with an extended 1.5 million Ugandans depending on his business legacy for directly and indirectly.

It was through this that Minister Musasizi hailed the family Board of Governors and staff for working hard to keep the business unimpaired.

“I thank the late Aponye for his contribution to the national economy and his family for continuing his legacy one year after his death," he said.

Minister Musasizi, also the MP for Arubanda East, paid tribute to Aponye for his personal support for NRM and President Museveni.

Musasizi said Aponye was heavily invested in mobilising support to the NRM and President Museveni and his contribution was always remarkably producing desirable results in Rukiga District and the country at large.

In many families with businesses, whenever the head passed on, the family gets embroiled in fight for properties but Aponye's family have stayed away from the textbook formula, keeping his strings of business running.
