The Ghanaian government has vowed to restore confidence in the economy by implementing the economic reforms that started in May last year with support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Minister of State at the Finance Ministry Abena Osei-Asare made this pledge Tuesday during a quarterly economic roundtable involving representatives of government, academia, and the private sector.

“We have secured impressive results from our economic engagements with our bilateral and multilateral counterparts. And we have completed the restructuring of our external debts with private creditors,” Osei-Asare stated. “I am confident that our steadfast commitment and results underpin the restoration of confidence in our economy.”

The minister, however, said some risks remain despite the steady progress, urging more caution and hard work to sustain and deepen the gains so far made. She called on the nation to double down on the good efforts to restore the economy.

Ghana began implementing reforms in May 2023 with a 3-billion-dollar loan from the IMF to revive its ailing economy.
