Manchester United have finally confirmed the arrival of new sporting director, Dan Ashworth, from Newcastle United.

The Red Devils have now completed their first piece of business this summer and it is the man responsible for reinforcing the team.

The Old Trafford outfit have been negotiating the signing of the 53-year-old for months and have finally agreed a deal with the Magpies.

As per today’s version of The Mirror, Man Utd have agreed a deal worth £10m to seal the signing of Ashworth from the St. James’ Park outfit.

Newcastle were playing hard ball with the 20-time English champions and were demanding a fee of £20m.

However, Ashworth wanted to move to Man Utd, who have been able to reach a comprise agreement with the Tyneside club by cutting the asking fee to half.

The famous British media outlet have mentioned that the new sporting director’s first job is to seal the signing of Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.

The Dutch international is not wanted at the Allianz and would be a top player to reinforce the backline at Old Trafford.

Apart from signing a center back, Ashworth must also focus on strengthening the midfield department by luring a replacement for veteran, Casemiro.

On the other hand, a quality winger should be secured to fill the void expected to be left by Greenwood and Sancho, who are linked with moves away from Man Utd.
