Problem

‘My daughter is getting married in Greece in September and I need help finding the perfect mother-of-the-bride outfit. I used to love shopping but I find it difficult now because, as I’ve got older, I’ve lost my confidence and it’s hard to find clothes that are age appropriate.

I want to feel special and step out of my comfort zone as I always wear the same things, but I do love blue.’ 

Solution

A destination wedding can be hard to dress for. The hotter weather requires outfits with a level of comfort that still look suitable for a special occasion.

I believe in embracing what you know works for you and, as Diane loves the colour, I looked for blue dresses with an interesting texture and silhouette. This one from Jigsaw ticked every box.

The fabric is feminine, light and flowy but cinches neatly at the waist, and the ruffle details complement the Grecian-style print. I balanced the look with simple cream accessories.

Diane’s verdict

‘I wouldn’t have chosen this dress if I had seen it in a shop but I love the sheer floaty fabric and the vibrant colour – it’s a real head-turner. It exceeded my expectations and I was so surprised how lovely it looks on me. 

I’ve been inspired to be more adventurous with my choices and I left with some great make-up tips – using lighter lip liner for a fuller lip is a revelation.’
