2024 Was The Year That Glastonbury Became Coachella

Florence Pugh does not dress to set trends. While her red-carpet moments are as manicured as the next famous person’s, she is, at heart, a good-time girl whose relationship to clothing is much like that of most 28-year-olds. Take, for example, the flower crown she wore to this year’s Glastonbury. It was, to some, as dated as the filter Snapchat developed for Coachella in 2016. But Florence “unapologetically likes what she likes”, as her stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray once said. “And is not afraid to take risks.”

While Dua Lipa was photographed in fashion-forward Ann Demeulemeester skirts and The Attico’s troots – a result of her ongoing collaboration with Rihanna’s stylist Jahleel Weaver – Pugh’s choice of attire was reflective of a broader shift in aesthetics taking place among all the non-VIP ticket holders. That is, a lean into chaps, cowboy hats, crystal belts, neon bodysuits and matching skirt sets that, yes, feel more Coachella in spirit than the rock-and-roll bohemia that Glasto is usually known for.
