New Presidential Jet: Senate Moves Against Journalist Over News Report
ABUJA – The Senate has moved to invite a journalists with the Guardian Newspapers to appear before its Committee on Ethics and Privileges over a report on alleged plans by the Upper Chamber to approve the purchase of a new private jet for the President.
At plenary on Thursday, Senator Solomon Adeola, citing a report on Guardian Newspaper, urged the Red Chamber to invite the author of the report (a journalist) to clarify the intent of the report.
He lamented that the report carried a headline which he considered as misleading.
The said headline on the Guardian Newspaper of June 26, 2024, reads, “Presidential Jet: Senate holds emergency session to consider supplementary budget.”
He visibly angry Senator Adeola queried the intent of preempting a Senate sitting a day before its actual convening.
His motion was seconded by Sen. Isa Jibril (Kogi East) who demanded that the author of the report be dragged before lawmakers to be probed.
