Wilfred Ndidi's immediate future is one to watch closely as the summer transfer window unfolds.

The Super Eagles midfielder recently opted against extending his stay at the King Power stadium following the expiration of his current contract.

According to a report from AllNigeriaSoccer, the departure of former Leicester City boss, Enzo Maresca, played a significant role in the Nigerian midfielder's decision not to renew his contract with the 2023/24 English Football League champions.

In the aftermath of his Leicester departure, the 27-year-old is attracting interest from several clubs as the new season approaches.

A recent report from the Daily Record indicates that Scottish Premiership powerhouse, Celtic, is eager to secure a transfer for the midfielder. The Glasgow club is reportedly keen on leveraging the strong relationship between Ndidi and coach, Brendan Rodgers, to bring him to Celtic Park.

In light of this, Sports Brief highlights potential destinations Ndidi could consider ahead of the new football season.

Potential transfer destinations for Ndidi

A move outside England???

According to a report from French outlet, Foot Mercato, Ligue 1 clubs, AS Monaco, Olympique Lyon, and Olympique Marseille are all interested in acquiring the services of Ndidi.

The Nigerian midfielder might be tempted by a move to any of these clubs, particularly given the opportunity to participate in European competitions.

A move to the French Ligue 1 could also offer Ndidi the chance to play for one of Europe’s most historic clubs, potentially serving as a springboard to attract the attention of other major European football powerhouses.

A move to the Saudi League?

Another option Ndidi might consider is a move to the Saudi League. In the summer of 2023, the 27-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab; however, a move did not materialise.

Now that the midfielder is a free agent, he could again be tempted by a move, especially considering the Saudi Pro League’s pursuit of elite players plying their trade in Europe shows no sign of slowing down.

A move to another Premier League club?

Another transfer option for the Nigerian midfielder could be a move to one of the bigger clubs in the Premier League. Currently, Manchester United appears to be on the lookout for a defensive midfielder, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding the immediate future of Carlos Casemiro.

Tottenham and Liverpool might also be looking to strengthen their midfield and could consider signing Ndidi on a free transfer.
