Alleged wrongful employment termination: Court to hear suit against NALPGAM

The suit was filed by Mrs Adenike Adedapo through her counsel, Mr B.A Momodu.

She is  seeking a declaration that termination of her employment by the association is illegal.

In an affidavit in support of the suit, Adedapo averred that, on June 7, 2023, she was issued a letter of suspension from duty, while on Nov. 14, 2023, her employment was eventually terminated by the association through a letter dated Nov. 14, 2023.

She claimed that she was never issued any query in writing with respect to any allegations, or allowed to defend herself before any panel prior to the termination of her employment.

The claimant averred that the termination was contrary to the rules and constitution of the association, adding that it was not considered or deliberated on by the management committee of the association.

She claimed that termination of the employment was occasioned by malice.

Adedapo is seeking a court declaration that the termination is illegal and not in accordance with the rules and constitution of the association.

She also seeks a declaration that she is entitled to salary arrears from June 2023, the time of her suspension from work, to April 2024, and thereafter until judgment is delivered in the case.

The claimant also seeks an order directing the defendant to re-instate her.

In addition, she seeks an order directing the defendant to pay her three million naira as general damages for inconveniences caused her by the termination of employment.

Justice S.A. Yelwa will hear the case on Nov. 4.
