Lagos Committed To Support Devt In Auto Sector – Commissioner

LAGOS – The Lagos State Government has restated its commitment to give maximum support to genuine automobile industry stakeholders and investors in the country.

The government vowed that it would continue to support the sector to ensure its development and growth.

Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the state Commissioner for Transportation, Lagos State, stated this over the weekend at the Nigeria Auto Industry Summit held in the state.

The event, which was organised by the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) in conjunction with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and attended by Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment and Joseph Osanipin, Director-General of NADDC.

Osiyemi who was represented at the summit by Engr. Olusoji Adebayo, the Director of Public Transport and Commuter Services, assured that the State Government would provide the enabling environment for the industry to thrive.

Osiyemi declared that the automobile industry played critical role in not only the driving economic growth, but also in fostering innovation, creating jobs, and enhancing the overall quality of life for our citizens.

He maintained that the state as a hub of economic activities and a key player in Nigeria’s development, recognised the immense potential within the auto industry.

The commissioner also said the government’s door was open for collaboration with investors to accelerate the development of the sector.

He said: “The Lagos State Government is committed to creating an enabling environment that supports industry stakeholders, fosters collaboration, and encourages investment.

“We believe that through strategic partnerships and innovative initiatives, the auto industry can significantly contribute to the revival and growth of our nation’s economy.”

He described as apt and timely the theme of the summit, which was ‘Developing Nigeria’s Economy through the Auto Industry.’

He expressed that the summit served as a crucial platform for dialogue, collaboration and the exchange of ideas, adding that it was also an opportunity for everyone; government officials, industry leaders, and experts from across Nigeria and sub-saharan Africa to come together and explore avenues for mutual growth and development.

He said: “By leveraging our collective expertise and resources, we can identify and harness the opportunities that lie ahead.

“Together, we can build a resilient, competitive, and sustainable auto sector that will drive our economy forward.”
