Diocesan Bishop of Ijesa North Anglican Diocese, Osogbo, Rt. Reverend Isaac Oluyamo, on Sunday, charged the federal government to swiftly address the grievances of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and improve Nigerian workers working conditions and living standards across Nigeria.

The Diocesan Bishop, who made the charge in a statement in Osogbo after the synod activities programme for the year, stated that Nigerian workers are hardworking individuals who deserve fair remuneration for their dedicated jobs.

According to him, “We are aware that Nigeria is currently facing its worst economic crisis in a generation, causing widespread hardship and frustration. Nevertheless, we have confidence in the President’s good plans for our nation, Nigeria.”.

“We urge Nigerians, especially Christians, to continue praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s success in accomplishing these plans. Soon, God will restore the lost glory of this nation, and all Nigerians will rejoice and sing a new song of victory.”.

“We call on the federal, state, and local governments, as well as the private sector, to invest in modern agriculture, particularly modern technologies, to boost agriculture in the nation.”.

“To maximise the benefits of agriculture nationwide, the government must halt open grazing and prioritise bolstering national security, addressing critical issues like kidnapping and the harassment of farmers.”

On Osun state, the clergyman commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for making the state more virile. He has been doing good work in the state, most importantly the reconstruction of damaged roads, rehabilitation of health centres, and recruitment of workers.

He thereafter encouraged him to continue with the good works and prayed to God to grant him divine grace to finish well.

“We also commend our son, Hon. Babatola Faseru, the Commissioner for Agriculture, for his impactful initiatives and strides in enhancing agricultural development within the state. ”

“Furthermore, we acknowledge and commend the efforts of our son, Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, in the Senate chambers. May the Lord continue to guide, protect, and bless him in his endeavours.”

Speaking on Nigerian youths, the Bishop of Ijesa North Anglican Diocese maintained that the “responsibility of nurturing children is a collective one. Parents, churches, and society at large must engage more actively with our youths, who represent the future of our nation”.

“Many have unfortunately turned to drugs, internet fraud (commonly known as “yahoo yahoo”), gangsterism, and robbery. By investing in their education, providing better job opportunities, and instilling sound moral and spiritual values, we can prevent our nation from sinking deeper into despair.”

“The future of Nigeria rests in our hands. Failures to improve our systems today will undoubtedly have severe repercussions tomorrow, as we are already experiencing.”.

“Let us not idly watch our country slip away. I urge the Nigerian government to uphold the true principles of democracy and create an enabling environment for our people to thrive,” he stressed.

He, however, appreciated the Chancellor of the Diocese, Chief Adeleke Adeniyi Agbola (SAN), “for hosting this synod. He has positively impacted humanity. We ask that the Lord Almighty grant him an increase on every side,” he concluded.
