BIRNIN-KEBBI – Kebbi State branch of Intra Party Advisory Council, IPAC, and 18 political parties who will be participating in the forthcoming local councils elections in the state has called on all eligible voters in the state to come out en masse to defend their votes and ensure they count.

Arising from their extra ordinary meeting, on Saturday, the state Chairman IPAC, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammed said this election would not be business as usual as parties, voters and IPAC will not fold it arms to allow impartial results declaration by the state electoral body KSIEC.

The body also voice concerns over administrative charges by KSIEC which they described as unaffordable to some political parties that could also stop some political parties from participating in the elections” we urge KSIEC to charge very little or wipe it completely like the federal electoral body INEC is doing to allow contenders to take part in the local councils polls .

IPAC, however, warned against employing partisan politicians from the ruling APC as ad-hoc staff for the conduct of the elections saying last elections witnessed the inclusion of partisan politicians as electoral officers which this time around will not be condoned by the body and the 18 Political parties in the state.

On elections guidelines, the body call on the electoral body to as a matter of urgency release the guidelines without further delay before the commencement of polls activities which according to their timetable will begin on July, the 7th,2024, to end September, the 7th,2024, before the main elections in August.

The body further warned that it will not accept results declaration in the middle of the night when people have gone to sleep and any party ruling or opposition who wins must be declared winner.

The meeting was attended by 18 participating political parties including the main opposition party the PDP.
