Security : LASG To Install Cameras On All Authorized Public Transport Vehicles Operating In Lagos State
In a move to improve security, the the Lagos State Government, through the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), has announced plans to progressively install cameras on all authorized public transport vehicles operating in the state.
Dr. Olukemi Amure, Head of Bus Services at LAMATA, announced this during the Agency’s first village meeting of the year to gather feedback and collaborate with drivers, operators, and other stakeholders to enhance BRT, and other bus services.
Also in attendance is CSP Adetayo Akerele, Head of Lagos State Task Force on Environmental Offences, who reassured the drivers of the enforcement team’s dedication to maintaining order on the BRT corridors. He emphasized the significance of driver cooperation and maintaining proper conduct.

Toyota Nigeria Limited (TNL), the sole distributor of Toyota vehicles in Nigeria, has unveiled two all-new Toyota models – the Belta sedan and the Rumion MUV into the lucrative Nigerian automotive market.
The unveiling of the two Toyota models was held during the maiden edition of the Toyota Motor Show held between June 27th and June 29th 2024 at the Podium Lekki.
At the exclusive motor show, TNL also had fast-selling models on display, including off-road-ready Hilux pickup truck, the Corolla, Starlet and SUVs like Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series and Prado.
In addition to the two new Toyota product launches, the exclusive motor show also came with a number of activities such as special after-sale packages, test drives, and, engaging interactions.
Toyota To Launch Hybrid Electric Variants Of Prado, RAV4 And Cross Into Nigerian Market
Toyota Nigeria Limited (TNL), the sole distributor of Toyota vehicles in Nigeria, has announced plans to roll out three hybrid electric variants of the Cross, RAV4 and Land Cruiser Prado into the Nigerian market as part of its support for the government’s green deal initiative.
Managing Director of TNL, Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo, made this known while speaking with journalists at the maiden edition of the Toyota Motor Show held between June 27-29th 2024 at the Podium Lekki.
Ade-Ojo said :
“By the end of this year, we’ll be introducing our first hybrid electric vehicle, the Cross. Next year, we’ll introduce the RAV4 hybrid and late next year or early 2026, we will bring in the Land Cruiser Prado hybrid in line with the government’s green deal initiative,” he said.
Vehicle Importation Dropped By 45% In The First Quarter Of 2024 Due To Forex Crisis – Customs Boss
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has disclosed that vehicle importation dropped by 45 per cent in the First Quarter (January – March) of 2024 due to foreign exchange challenges in the country.
The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, stated this during a recent interview with Arise News Channel.
“It affected car dealers. We had as much as a 45 per cent decrease in the volume of cars that were brought into Nigeria in that period. And they were not the kind of cars that fetched optimum revenue for the customs.”
The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service noted that the Forex challenges not only affected car importation but also regular imports like raw materials.
“Not only cars, but even regular imports were also affected because people could no longer import raw materials as they wanted and the volatility did not allow them to plan for tomorrow,” the CGC stated.
