George Aid Foundation, Rotary Club Enroll 1,000 Residents In Oyo Health Insurance Scheme

In a collaborative effort, the George Aid Foundation of Nigeria and its USA counterpart, along with the Rotary Club of Ibadan Jericho Metro, have enrolled 1000 disadvantaged individuals in the Oyo State Health Insurance Scheme (OYSHIA).

The enrollment took place during a free medical outreach program held at the Oke-Are Primary Health Care Center in Ibadan.

The beneficiaries, mostly aged, widows, nursing mothers, and pregnant women, received medical treatment and screenings from a consortium of medical consultants from Nigeria and abroad.

Services included cervical screening, dental cleaning and repair, eye examinations, health education, diabetes and hypertension screening.

Dr. Musbau Kasumu, head of medical personnel at the outreach, noted that hypertension was the most common condition among the beneficiaries, emphasizing the need for vigilance in maintaining good health.

He advised Nigerians to be mindful of their diet and consumption of carbonated drinks.

Ken George, sponsor of the outreach and founder of George Aid Foundation, stated that the initiative aims to support the Oyo State Government and the people of Ibadanland.

The NGO has partnered with OYSHIA to enroll all participants in the health mission.

Rotarian Afolabi Salisu, President of Rotary Club of Ibadan Jericho Metro, praised the initiative and encouraged others to emulate it, making society a better place to live.

The week-long activities of the George Aid Foundation and Rotary Club of Ibadan Jericho Metro will continue in other communities on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
