The items, our correspondent learnt, were taken from a house in the Liberty Area of Ogijo, located in the Sagamu Area of the state.

A police source who was privy to the incident but was not authorised to speak told our correspondent on Thursday that the suspect was apprehended at a hideout, where the stolen items were recovered.

Our correspondents gathered that the suspect, along with some yet-to-be-identified accomplices, who are currently on the run, allegedly broke into the house of one Mr Idris Salawu.

The cop said, “The victim returned to him and discovered that it had been burgled. He immediately reported the theft to the station. Some of the things that went missing include a generator that was valued at N80,000, a gas cylinder valued at N20,000 and a rechargeable fan valued at N60,000.

Confirming the incident, state police command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, stated that an investigation and manhunt were underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

“We are making efforts to nab the other suspects, and then, after the investigation is concluded, they will be arraigned in court for prosecution,” Odutola said.

PUNCH Metro reports that incidents of burglary and robbery have been increasing in the state. Recently, a suspected burglar, Olalekan Babatunde, allegedly broke into a shop in the Ogijo area and stole items including a generator and laptop, valued at N729,000.
