If Deadpool & Wolverine Rips Off This 1 Loki Scene, It'll Be So Good I Won't Even Mind

Summary

  • Deadpool & Wolverine will keep the emotional ending of Logan intact, perhaps introducing a variant of Hugh Jackman's original Wolverine.
  • The TVA could show this new Wolverine his original life and death, copying one powerful moment from Loki season 1's premiere.
  • Seeing his death could inspire Wolverine to join Deadpool on his mission across the MCU's multiverse.

Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine could easily rip off one powerful scene from Loki season 1, but I think this would work perfectly in the upcoming MCU movie. I'm so excited to see Hugh Jackman suit up in a comic-accurate costume (for the first time ever) as Wolverine in the MCU's Phase 5, but I'm one of many who are confused about how this will happen without reversing the emotional ending of Logan. Thankfully, it seems Wolverine's death in Fox's X-Men franchise will somehow remain intact, but this raises questions for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine's first official trailer seemed to hint at this version of Wolverine being one we haven't actually met before. This version of Wolverine seems to have caused some catastrophic event in his world, making him a more brutal, troubled, and short-tempered incarnation of the clawed X-Men hero. Taking Wolverine from another reality is a great way to retain Logan's ending while bringing Hugh Jackman back in his iconic role, and this also creates the opportunity for Marvel Studios to repeat one of Loki's most important moments.

Deadpool & Wolverine Should Repeat Loki’s Saddest Scene

First released in June 2021, Loki season 1's premiere saw the variant of Tom Hiddleston's original Loki who escaped in Avengers: Endgame arrive at the Time Variance Authority. The Loki scene that sticks out the most to me saw Loki watch back flashes of his variant's life in the TVA, including his redemption arc and tragic death at the hands of Thanos. Watching back this reel had a huge impact on Loki, setting him on his journey to save the multiverse, and I would love to see this scene repeated in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Since it seems that Hugh Jackman's character in Deadpool & Wolverine is from a different universe to that of Fox's X-Men franchise, he could be shown a similar reel detailing what the timeline of his life should have been. It's unclear when the timelines of Fox's Wolverine and Deadpool & Wolverine's Wolverine would have diverged, but the TVA could show Wolverine snippets from the original X-Men trilogy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and his solo trilogy. This would culminate in Wolverine witnessing the events of Logan, learning about his daughter and seeing his own demise.

Wolverine Seeing His Life Could Convince Him To Join Deadpool

Learning about the multiverse may give Logan hope that there are better worlds out there.

Deadpool & Wolverine's trailers and teasers have proven that Wolverine will initially be hesitant to join Deadpool on his mysterious mission. He evidently does at some point, however, and bringing him to the TVA and showing him his life and death could be the catalyst for this decision. It looks like Wolverine did something that may have wiped out the X-Men of his world, but the TVA could show him that this wasn't how his life was supposed to go. Learning about the multiverse may give Logan hope that there are better worlds out there.

Additionally, Wolverine watching his life and death back thanks to the TVA's technology would inform him of his biological daughter, Laura, a.k.a. X-23, who was portrayed by Dafne Keen in Logan. Keen has denied her involvement in Deadpool & Wolverine, but this new information could convince Logan to head out with Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth to find a universe he could be happy in. Although it may seem repetitive, copying Loki would create some hugely emotional moments in Deadpool & Wolverine that I would love to see.
