Phased work to replace Route 711 bridge will restrict, detour traffic in Ligonier Township
A series of traffic restrictions and a temporary detour are set to begin on Monday as a PennDOT contractor replaces a bridge on Route 711 in Ligonier Township.
Located between Slater and Peters roads, the bridge carries Route 711 over Koffer Run — a tributary of Loyalhanna Creek — on the stretch of the highway that connects Stahlstown and Ligonier.
Depending on weather conditions, different phases of the bridge project are scheduled as follows:
• Monday through Wednesday — Daylight single-lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flagging;
• July 12-15 — Closure of the road to all traffic. Posted detours will be in place;
• July 15 to Aug. 23 — Traffic restricted to the southbound lane of Route 711 and controlled by temporary traffic signals;
• Aug. 23 to Oct. 3 — Traffic restricted to the northbound lane of Route 711 and controlled by temporary signals;
• Oct. 3 through late October — All traffic controlled by flagging.
Passenger vehicles will be detoured along Darlington-Rector Road and routes 381 and 30.
Trucks will be redirected along routes 31 and 982, Kecksburg Road and routes 981 and 30.
In the $1.8 million project, crews from JVI Group will replace the bridge over Koffer Run with 72-inch reinforced concrete pipes and three eight-foot inlet boxes.
