The Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah performed superbly in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and helped his team in winning the trophy. What’s more, he was also adjudged as the player of the match for his magnificent performance.

Jasprit Bumrah took 15 wickets but what was really sensational was his economy rate; maintaining an economy rate of 4.17 in the shortest format speaks highly of Jasprit Bumrah’s skills and caliber.

After India won the match, many former cricketers, not just Indian but foreigner as well, stated that Jasprit Bumrah is the best pacer of the world and there is no one who can come close to him.

However, the legendary West Indian cricketer Brian Lara feels otherwise as in a video, he is seen calling the English pacer James Anderson the greatest fast bowler ever. James Anderson made his debut for England in 2003 and in his career of more than two decades, he has taken 700 test wickets in 187 test matches.

James Anderson is the first pacer and the third bowler overall to dismiss 700 batters in the longest format and the first test match of the three- match test series which will be played between England and West Indies will be the last test match of his career. The match will be played at Lord’s from 10 July and it will be the last chance for James Anderson to cross Shane Warne’s tally of 708 wickets and become the second highest wicket taker of the world in test matches.

Brian Lara stated, “He is the greatest fast bowler that has ever played the game. His numbers are incredible, and he has served England well. I know he did not have that in mind (retiring from cricket), but I think he has accepted it. If that is the choice of his captain, coach, and selectors, then so be it.”

He further said, “He has had a tremendous career for England. There are not many England cricketers who come close to Anderson (when asked about Anderson’s legacy). He has taken the most Test wickets as a fast bowler and had a career that lasted for over 23 years. I think only Courtney Walsh comes close to him in terms of the number of years he has played, but his legacy is going to be tremendous, and I think as an English cricketer, he has the respect of the world.”
