The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has directed the formation of a five-man committee to collaborate with the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities.
This committee will work on creating awareness about the rights and privileges of persons living with disabilities in the country.
Idris disclosed this during a meeting with the executive secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Dr. James Lalu in Abuja on Wednesday, April 24.
The minister restated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to social inclusion and ensuring that no segment of the Nigerian population is left behind.

“From today, we will set up a committee that is going to work closely with you to look at your specific needs so that we can help to ensure that your aims and objectives are achieved,” he said.
“No segment of the Nigerian population will be left behind under the Tinubu administration,” he assured.
The minister also explained that the move is to ensure the protection of the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities. He added that the committee will also focus on advocating for the domestication of Disability Law across states.
Dr. Lalu stated the need for collaboration to raise awareness about disability rights, as well as the untapped potential of people with disabilities for the country’s economic advancement.
