Katsina Gets New Immigration Comptroller, Mahmoud Adamu

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Katsina State Command has a new Comptroller, as CIS Mohammed Mahmoud Adamu formally assumed duties today. Adamu takes over from the Acting Comptroller, DCI Kabir Balarabe, becoming the 23rd Comptroller to lead the Katsina Command.

Adamu, an indigene of Katagum Local Government Area in Bauchi State, is a seasoned immigration officer with a robust academic background. He holds a B.Sc. in Accountancy, an M.Sc. in Accountancy, and a Ph.D. in Accountancy from Bayero University Kano, University of Abuja, and Bingham University Karu, Abuja, respectively.

Enlisted into the Nigeria Immigration Service in 1991, Adamu has served in various capacities, including Passport Control Officer in Gwagwalada, FCT Abuja, Head of ICT at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja, and Comptroller of the Zamfara State Command. Prior to his posting to Katsina, he was in charge of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The new Comptroller is a recipient of numerous awards and commendations, including the 2019 Ministerial Award for Best NIS Officer of the Year and the 2008 Head of Service of the Federation Award for Honesty and Excellent Service.

Adamu has also undergone extensive training, both locally and internationally, having attended management courses in China, leadership and management courses in Singapore, capacity development programs in South Korea, as well as IOM Capacity Development trainings in Gambia, and Ghana. He has also received computer training.

During the handing over ceremony, Adamu was received with a quarter guard mounted in his honor. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and urged officers and men of the command to work collectively towards the progress of the state and the nation. He also encouraged them to strive for excellence and to do anything that would add value to the service.

The new Comptroller’s hobbies include watching football and boxing, and he is happily married with lovely children.
