Heavy rain is likely to interrupt a summer Sunday on Tyneside - though weather warnings seen around the UK have not yet hit our region.
After a thundery Saturday of stormy weather and heavy rain, Sunday is likely to see similar downpours interrupt the summer.
Though the North East is not currently included in any official weather warnings, the current forecast for this afternoon and evening will not make pleasant reading for the region's sun-worshippers. Newcastle will see a steady temperatures of 14 to 15 degrees celsius, but the striking weather news the prospect of dark clouds and heavy rain later on.
Sunset is due for 9.44pm, while the UV index is medium - so get that suncream on regardless! Pollution is low and pollen is to be medium.
The Met Office forecast for Sunday is: "Fine at first for many, however showers will spread from western parts to become more widespread through the day, turning locally heavy and thundery. Rather cool, but feeling pleasant in sunny spells, and helped by lighter winds than on Saturday. Maximum temperature 19 °C."
And for the following few days, the outlook isn't much better. The Met Office added for Monday: "Fine at first, with sunny spells eventually joined by a risk of showers inland, with isolated thunder perhaps possible during the afternoon. Light winds. Maximum temperature 19 °C."
Tuesday to Thursday sees a similar picture - not the best week to try to get any washing dry... This is the outlook: "Unseasonably cool and unsettled through this period, with Tuesday cloudy and wet, ahead of a risk of widespread thundery showers midweek. Probably gradually becoming drier through Thursday."
