Kaizer Chiefs’ left-winger, Pule Mmodi, has revealed the key factors that have propelled Mothobi Mvala’s success.

Mmodi and Mvala hail from the same township of Theunissen in the Free State. Besides being footballers and originating from the same township, the pair are genuine real-life friends.

The pair now represent two of the biggest teams in the country. Mmodi plays for Kaizer Chiefs, while Mvala is with Mamelodi Sundowns.

This has put their township on the map, with Mvala already giving back to the community by hosting a football tournament through his foundation, the Mothobi Mvala Schools Cup.

PULE MMODI ON WHAT PUSHED MOTHOBI MVALA’S SUCCESS

Mmodi has highlighted the key factor that contributed to his friend’s success, and their shared experience of playing football together at some point.

“For me, I think Mothobi has always been a hard worker on and off the field,” said the former Golden Arrows man, Mmodi.

“You know, every time whenever we play, he was that guy who always pushes himself.

“Besides anything, talent-wise he always gives his best for himself.”

‘IT’S NOT BECAUSE OF LUCK TO REPRESENT BAFANA’

Mmodi went on to state that it is not because of “luck” that he and Mvala have represented the national team.

He [Mmodi] is confident that this will inspire numerous youngsters from his township to follow in their footsteps.

To top it off, Mvala clinched the bronze medal with Bafana during the 2023 AFCON tournament held in Ivory Coast.

“Most of the people from our township believed in us. It’s not because of luck for us playing in the national team. They knew how good we are to play in the national team,” he added.

“I believe that can bring too much motivation to the youngsters here in the township.”
