Orangeburg County Courthouse: Man guilty of drug, assault charges

A 54-year-old Orangeburg man is in prison on drug and assault charges.

Antonio Dequinton Zeigler

Antonio Dequinton Zeigler, of 365 Jamison Avenue, Orangeburg, recently pleaded guilty to first-offense manufacturing/distributing cocaine base and first-degree assault and battery, although he was originally charged with attempted murder.

Circuit Judge Heath P. Taylor sentenced him to prison for 10 years.

After Zeigler serves five years, the remainder of his term will be suspended to probation for two years. Zeigler was given credit for 409 days served in jail.

Zeigler faced the following charges, but they were dismissed: possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of a violent felony.

• Justin Lamar Berry, 36, of 550 Wilson Street, Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to third-degree domestic violence and use of vehicle without consent with intent to deprive owner.

Circuit Judge Maite Murphy sentenced him to 90 days in jail. He was given credit for time served.

• Terry Boyd, 50, of 107 Tony Drive, Holly Hill, pleaded guilty to first-offense possession of one ounce or less of cocaine base.

Murphy sentenced him to 90 days in jail and gave him credit for serving 43 days.

• Robert Jason Bozard, 45, of 488 Murray Road, Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to first-offense possession of one ounce or less of methamphetamine/cocaine base.

Murphy ordered him to pay a $200 fine within 30 days or report to jail for 90 days.

• Tyqwan Kalee Blaine Brock, 25, of 549 Monticello Lane, Cottageville, pleaded guilty to first-offense failure to stop for blue light and first-offense possession of cocaine.

Murphy sentenced him to prison for one year. Once Brock serves 90 days, his term will be suspended to probation for one year. Murphy gave him credit for serving five days in jail.

Brock is allowed to serve his jail time on weekends.

Murphy ordered him to obtain his GED.

Brock was charged with speeding more than 10 mph but less than 15 mph over the speed limit, but that charge was dismissed.

• Joseph Arthur Brown, 45, of 301 Main Avenue, Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to third-degree domestic violence.

Murphy sentenced him to jail for one day. He was given credit for time served.

• Shamell Hakeem Brown, 29, of 267 North Trail, Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and battery, although he was originally charged with first-degree assault and battery.

Murphy sentenced him to prison for three years, suspended to probation for 18 months.

She also ordered Brown to undergo random drug/alcohol testing and complete anger management counseling.

• Christopher Bernard Bruce, 63, of 128 Silver Way Drive, Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to breach of trust with fraudulent intent valued more than $2,000 but less than $10,000.

Murphy sentenced him to prison for five years, suspended to probation for four years. She gave Bruce credit for serving two days in jail.

She ordered him to complete public service employment and undergo random drug/alcohol testing.
