Ahead of the September Edo governorship poll, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Osarenren Derek Izedonmwen, said that the squabble between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) is in ADC’s favour.

Speaking to reporters, yesterday, after receiving his certificate of return from the Ralph Nwosu-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the party on Wednesday in Abuja, Izedonmwen blamed successive administrations of PDP and APC for the underdevelopment in the state over the years.

He assured that his rivals from the PDP and APC, Asue Ighodalo and Monday Okpebholo, would not constitute any threat to the realisation of his ambition to govern the state.

Izedonmwen promised to emulate the patriotic and selfless leadership models of the late Gen. Samuel Ogbemudia and Prof. Ambrose Ali to reposition Edo State for sustainable development.

He said: “I am not worried about PDP and APC. That is not to say that they are formidable. But they are the problem of Edo State. They are the reasons we are in politics. If you look at the last 20 years I will go back to 50 years, we have never had a people’s government. The last people’s government we had in the state was Prof. Ambrose Ali’s, and if you go further back, we had Gen. Samuel Ogbemudia. These are my heroes and the people I want to replicate.”
