SA bow out of Cosafa Cup, Group C on knife edge

In Tuesday’s line-up of Cosafa Cup fixtures, South Africa failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament, while Angola and Namibia eye top spot in Group C on Wednesday.

Despite claiming a 1-0 win against Eswatini at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday, South Africa missed out on qualifying for the next phase of the competition after finishing in 2nd place in Group A.

While South Africa and Mozambique ended their group bids level on points (5), it was the Mambas who boasted a superior goal difference following their 3-1 win against Botswana in the adjacent fixture on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Namibia will take on Seychelles in their final Group C encounter with the game scheduled to take place at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium on Wednesday afternoon (Kick-off is at 3:00pm CAT). Then, in the corresponding tie, Lesotho and Angola will do battle at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (Kick-off is at 3:00pm CAT).

Both Namibia and Angola head into their final group game level on points (4), while Angola have the upper hand in the Goal Difference statistic.
