Wonder Man star Demetrius Grosse has opened up about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a new interview, the actor teased his role as Eric Williams/Grim Reaper in the Disney+ series, which will apparently be different from anything Marvel Studios has previously released on the platform.

While speaking with ComicBookMovie.com's Josh Wilding (via X) about his new movie Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, Grosse was asked to briefly tease anything he could about Marvel Studios' Wonder Man. "I think people are going to be intrigued by the dynamic between Simon Williams and Eric Williams as much as about the dynamic between Grim Reaper and Wonder Man," the actor shared, suggesting that the show will focus on the brothers' lives in and out of their respective costumed personas. "This series is going to be very very different, kind of show but pleasantly so," Grosse added, a sentiment that was similarly expressed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige earlier this week.

Announced in June 2022, Wonder Man is expected to be a behind-the-scenes look at Hollywood and a character study of Simon Williams, a superhero who has a side gig as an actor and stuntperson. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is on board Wonder Man as a producer, with Andrew Guest (Hawkeye) serving as both head writer and executive producer. The 10-episode series is expected to be released under the Marvel Spotlight banner, a new initiative from Marvel Studios that aims to tell more "character-driven" stories with its shows while breaking away from Marvel's big-budget model. Echo was the first series released under the banner.

Who Else Stars in Wonder Man?

Simon Williams/Wonder Man will be portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who previously appeared in the DC Extended Universe as the villainous Black Manta in both Aquaman movies. He will be joined by Ben Kingsley, reprising his MCU role from Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as thespian Trevor Slattery; Grosse as Eric Williams, Simon's brother who operates as a supervillain under the title Grim Reaper; and Ed Harris as Simon's agent, Neal Saroyan. Lauren Glazier and Josh Gad are also part of Wonder Man, although their roles remain undisclosed at this time.

Agatha All Along Is the Next MCU Series

Before Wonder Man hits Disney+, however, Marvel Studios will premiere Agatha All Along, the hotly-anticipated spinoff of WandaVision, on Sept. 18. Plot details remain under wraps for the Kathryn Hahn-led MCU series, although it is confirmed to pick up after the events of WandaVision, with Agatha Harkness finally breaking out of a spell that the Scarlet Witch placed upon her. After finding out that her powers are gone, Agatha embarks on a perilous quest to regain them with the help of an unlikely friend or two.

No premiere date for Wonder Man has been announced yet, although the series will stream exclusively on Disney+.
