Suspected burglar arrested with iron rods in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected burglar, Olamide Olanisimi, in Idi-Oke, Igbesa Awori axis of the state.

According to information available to The Eagle Online, the 35-year-old man was arrested by the police on Wednesday.

This followed a report at Idi-Oke Police Division by one Isoh Godwin.

According to a information available to The Eagle Online: “At about 11:30am, while he was at Keke park beside Biscuit Company he sighted a young man with a sack who looked suspicious trying to board a motorcycle.

“He stressed further that when the man was questioned about the content it was discovered that the content in the sack to be stolen iron rods.”

Godwin was said to have immediately alerted the Idi-Oke Police Division, which promptly arrested the suspect.

A police source told The Eagle Online that detectives were dispatched to the scene following a confessional statement from the suspect that he removed and dismantled the iron rods from an uncompleted building at Isunba Sasure.

The source further told The Eagle Online: “Efforts are on to contact the owner of the building. 

“However, the suspect will be arraigned as soon as the investigation is concluded.”

The spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command and a Superintendent of Police, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the development to The Eagle Online.

Odutola, however, said she was awaiting more details to comment further on the case.
