The event with the theme “Human Kinetics and Sports: The Nexus for Securing Nigeria“ is scheduled to take place at the Sports Auditorium of the University of Calabar in Cross River State.

Briefing the media on the event in Calabar, the Cross River State Commandant of VGN, Dr Moses Ogar Bassey, said that the training, which is in collaboration with the Fixed Martial Art and Superior Taekwondo Association, is expected to have all State Commands of the VGN in attendance.

He said the training exercise is aimed at equipping security personnel with modern non-kinetic combating as well as defensive and offensive techniques to demobilise insecurity and allow for a peaceful environment for growth and development to thrive.

The State Commandant noted that the state must be safe for schools, farming, and business, adding that after the training, all men of the VGN would be more grounded in skills to perform their tasks in collaboration with other security agencies in the state.

He lauded the national leaders of VGN, especially the Commandant General, Navy Capt. Abubakar Umar Bakori (Retd), and the National Director of Sports and Training, Grandmaster Ebose Michael, enjoined all Vigilante officers in the state to present themselves for the safety exercise and to host the Commandant General and his team.

The State Commandant advised the officers to abide by the rules and regulations of the VGN and obey the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as they discharge their duties.

He instructed the officers to bring their appointment letters, educational certificates, and VGN certificates for a verification exercise at the VGN state headquarters located behind the Transcorp Hotel in Calabar.
