Bane's New Costume Marks His Most R-Rated Strength Feat of All Time
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Batman and Robin #11!The fan-favorite villain Bane has returned with a brand-new costume to go along with possibly his coolest attack ever. The iconic Batman foe has been largely absent in the last few years, but now he's back and living his best life on Dinosaur Island and has a killer new look to show off.
In a preview for Batman and Robin #11 by Joshua Williamson and Juan Ferreyra, it's another day in Dinosaur Island. But as a T. rex walks through the island's forests, Bane comes out of nowhere wearing a cape and improvised knee pads and gauntlets. Bane punches the leviathan, grabs its tail and whips it around before the T. rex gobbles him up.
However, Bane refuses to be anyone's lunch and bursts his way out of the dinosaur by kicking its jaw clean off. Satisfied he's conquered his opponent, Bane looks out upon Dinosaur Island and admires his new kingdom.
Before Bane was running around picking fights with T. rexes, the iconic villain was caught up in one of the most shocking events of the Infinite Frontier era of DC Comics. During an event known as 'A-Day', the Joker unleashed a massive chemical attack on Arkham Asylum and killed several high-profile villains. Bane was thought to have died in A-Day, but he was the mastermind behind the attack as part of a plan to take down the Court of Owls. Bane largely disappeared, until Damian Wayne had Maya Ducard track Bane down to his new home on Dinosaur Island.
Bane has a lot of attacks that have made DC history. From the way he broke Batman's back to the infamous time he snapped Alfred's neck, Bane has no problem getting his hands dirty. But killing a T. rex from the inside out has got to be one of the most messed up, yet intriguing attacks he's ever done. The savage attack goes along well with his new look, which appears to be made of elements taken from Dinosaur Island, including a few bones (possibly his victims). After years of searching, it looks like Bane has finally found where he belongs.
Bane is a simple man. He believes in strength and keeping only what one can protect. A place like Dinosaur Island is a great fit for him. He's adapted well to the land of prehistoric beasts and seems to have found an odd peace. He may have to fight for his life every day, but someone like Bane seems to prefer that way of life. It may not last, but judging by his new look and the attacks he's doling out on T. rexes, hopefully fans will get to see a lot more of this side of Bane.
Batman and Robin #11 is available on July 10th from DC Comics.
