Welcome to the house of the revolving door, where summer has brought a flurry of activity and an abundance of cherished moments with loved ones. Despite the hectic schedule, the time spent with family and friends has been nothing short of a blessing.
Quality Time with Loved Ones
My sister and her family recently graced us with their presence, turning our home into a bustling summer camp filled with laughter and joy. The days were packed with outdoor adventures, water activities, visits to the park, and berry picking escapades. The temporary relief from sweltering temperatures allowed us to embark on a berry-picking excursion at Lineberger’s Maple Springs Farm in Dallas, North Carolina, where blueberries and blackberries awaited our eager hands.
Fun-Filled Adventures
While berry picking was the main attraction, the discovery of baby toads near a pond captured the attention of our young explorers. Amidst the berry bushes, the children frolicked, climbed trees, hunted for frogs, and befriended a delightful cat that craved their affection. Our berry haul may have been modest, but it was enough to whip up a delectable blackberry and blueberry crisp, served with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream.
Lake Escapades
As the heat returned, our days were divided between lakeside retreats and poolside relaxation. With Ryan's ingenuity, our lake setup now features a floating lily pad, an inflatable slide, and a giant watermelon float—a recipe for endless aquatic amusement enjoyed by both children and adults alike.
Exploring the Outdoors
Kayaking emerged as a favorite pastime this summer, with our expanded kayak fleet allowing for family adventures on the tranquil lake. The exploration of nearby islands led to an exciting encounter with three adorable goslings, a testament to the wonders of nature waiting to be discovered.
Family Bonding
Adding to our summer festivities, my parents recently joined us for a visit, adding to the warmth and merriment filling our home. Their stay promises days filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories as we soak up every moment together.
