The latest entry in the beloved Universal Monsters brand is heading to Peacock. The streamer has announced when Radio Silence's vampire movie, Abigail, will become available to stream for subscribers.

Per Deadline, Abigail will begin streaming exclusively on Peacock beginning July 19, 2024. The horror comedy's arrival on the streaming service comes roughly two and a half months since it became available to rent or own on video-on-demand platforms. The streaming premiere date announcement for Abigail arrived ahead of its home video release on July 9. Fans looking for more than just the 109-minute movie on Peacock will want to pick up a physical copy of Abigail, as the Blu-ray and DVD versions come with several special features, including extended and deleted scenes, a gag reel, and a commentary track from Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

Abigail actor Melissa Barrera explains the planned alternate ending for the Radio Silence-led horror film and why it wasn't necessary.

What Is Abigail About?

Abigail is a modern-day adaptation of the 1936 Universal Monsters cult classic, Dracula's Daughter. Stephen Shields and Guy Busick wrote the screenplay for Abigail, which follows a group of kidnappers who hold the daughter of a notorious New York underground figure hostage. However, the ballet-dancing titular character, played by Alisha Weir, turns out to be a vampire, wreaking havoc on the kidnappers and everything in her path.

The film initially premiered at the Overlook Film Festival on Apr. 7 before its wider theatrical debut on Apr. 19. Despite strong reviews from critics, Abigail failed to find an audience, earning just over $42 million worldwide. Melissa Barrera — who co-starred in the movie alongside Weir, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, Will Catlett, Kevin Durand, Angus Cloud, and Giancarlo Esposito — shared back in May that she would be open to returning for an Abigail sequel. Unfortunately, a sequel being greenlit seems unlikely following the movie's poor box-office performance.

Wolf Man Is the Next Universal Monsters Movie to Get Rebooted

Universal has been slowly rebooting and reimagining its stable of Universal Monsters characters, with Dracula and The Invisible Man among those that have already received new movies. The next character to get rebooted will be the Wolf Man, with a new movie currently in production in New Zealand with The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell at the helm.

In addition to Wolf Man, Universal and Blumhouse are developing a sequel to Whannell's The Invisible Man, which was one of the last major blockbusters to be released in theaters before the industry was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Invisible Man star Elisabeth Moss confirmed in April 2024 that a sequel was close to being greenlit, promising fans that everyone involved is "very much intent on continuing that story, for sure."

Abigail arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on July 9 and begins streaming on Peacock on July 19.
