Bristol Airport flights delayed over half of the time on one route

More than half of flights are delayed on the worst airline route in Bristol. Analysis of the latest figures from the Civil Aviation Authority reveals that 59 per cent of TUI flights from Bristol to Mallorca were delayed by at least 15 minutes in the 12 months to April.

Also high in the rankings for delays at Bristol Airport were EasyJet flights to Split, with 57 per cent of flights delayed by at least 15 minutes last year.

They were followed by Jet2 flights to Alicante (63 per cent), and EasyJet flights to Murcia International (53 per cent) and Dubrovnik (52 per cent), as well as Jet2 flights to Ibiza (also 52 per cent).

A spokesperson from Bristol Airport said: “We understand delays to flights are frustrating for customers.

"On time punctuality can be impacted by a wide range of factors including weather, technical issues, and European air traffic control delays. Bristol Airport works closely with all business partners, airlines, air traffic control and handling agents to minimise delays and keep disruption to a minimum.”

It’s a different story when looking at which routes will keep you waiting the longest. SunExpress flights from Bristol to Antalya have the worst record when it comes to average delay times at the airport.

While only 19% of flights on this route were delayed by 15 minutes or more in the year to April, they were delayed by an average of 44 minutes.

These were followed by EasyJet flights to Mahon (39 minutes), Ryanair flights to Cologne Bonn (38 minutes), Jet2 flights to Dalaman (36 minutes) and EasyJet flights to Bale Mulhouse (34 minutes).

The only thing worse than a delayed flight is a cancelled one, and thankfully these are rare at Bristol airport. EasyJet flights to Bale Mulhouse were the most likely to be cancelled last year, but only 4.4 per cent of flights on this route were scrapped between May 2023 and April 2024.

Other routes with a relatively high cancellation record include Swiss Airlines Flights to Zurich and EasyJet flights to Bordeaux (both 4.1%), and Loganair flights to Aberdeen and Aurigny flights to Guernsey (both 3.9%).
