When Magic Valley athletes compete at the National High School Finals Rodeo
Ten Magic Valley athletes will trek east next week for the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
The National High School Rodeo Association released the unofficial draw earlier this week which displayed when the Magic Valley athletes will compete. The rodeo begins July 14 at the Sweetwater Events Complex.
You can stream each performance on Cowboy Channel+. Performances are set for 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. July 14’s performance is night only.
Albion’s Samantha Mai (barrel racing) and Oakley’s Curtis Dutson (bull riding) enter as the 2024 state champions from the Magic Valley.
Albion's Samantha Mai went 4-for-4 in wins and cruised to a barrel racing state title with 65 points. Oakley's Curtis Dutson won the bull riding title.
Torrey Glaser (girls cutting) will also represent District 5 though she resides in Elko, Nevada.

• Mai (barrel racing): Sunday night and Saturday morning
• Dutson (bull riding): Tuesday morning and Thursday night
• Glaser (girls cutting): Tuesday night and Thursday morning
• Filer’s Britt Wells (bareback riding): Monday morning and Friday night
• Jerome’s Winn Southwick (bareback riding): Sunday night and Saturday morning
• Gooding’s Trey Smith (steer wrestling): Tuesday night and Thursday morning
• Twin Falls’ Aidan Zunino (tie-down roping): Monday night and Friday morning
• Oakley’s Briggs Matthews (boys cutting): Monday morning and Friday night
• Kimberly’s Chantry Brackett (girls cutting): Sunday night and Saturday morning
• Kimberly’s Rhett Brackett (boys cutting): Monday night and Friday morning
District 5 and District 6 athletes competed in the championship short go at the Idaho High School Rodeo Association State Finals on Saturday.
