Edo 2024: Vote modern Awolowo, Asue Ighodalo as governor – D D Ilugbekhai

Nigerian Observer 2024/10/5

Former Edo State House of Assembly aspirant in Etsako East Local Government Area, Engr. D D Ilugbekhai Inwomoh, has tasked the good people of Edo State to vote another Obafemi Awolowo into political position in the forthcoming September governorship election in Edo State.

Ilugbehai, who is a member of The Advisory Council (New Media) in the PDP Campaign Council, described Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the PDP governorship candidate as a modern Awolowo who will project public interest above personal aggrandizement.

“When Awolowo was alive, he lived and dreamt of people’s welfare and development. Western Region was a pacesetter under him. Just as Edo is currently a pacesetter in Nigeria in terms of development, security and highest salary for civil servants under Governor Godwin Obaseki in PDP administration when other opposition states and the Federal Government are still struggling to pay what Edo government is paying with ease,” he said.

Illugbehai maintained that, “Awolowo introduced the first television station in Africa at a time when some European countries were yet to have a television station. He built the first standard stadium in the country. He was the first to introduce free primary education and free healthcare for children of school age. Awolowo used his house in Ibadan as collateral for a bank loan taken by farmers at Elere village to establish a garri processing plant. That’s the kind of government Edo will have with Asue Ighodalo as the next governor.”

The secret of Awolowo’s effective leadership was his exposure and knowledge. That is why we need an exposed candidate like Dr. Asue Ighodalo who is well educated and connected. A vote for PDP is a vote for a rebranded Edo State. “If our dreams of becoming a Pacesetter to a new Nigeria then we need best hands for the job, Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie are the two men that know the way.
