A 67-year old man has been arrested by the Police in Bauchi for allegedly raping two girls after he lured them with N500.

The suspect, Bala Mohammed, reportedly lured the girls into his room and allegedly had carnal knowledge of them without their consent.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this in a statement he made available to journalists in the State on Thursday night.

Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, said that the parents of the victims reported the incident at the A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Bauchi.

He said that the girls claimed that the suspect raped them up to five times.

“On the 22nd June, 2024 at about 3.00pm, one Abubakar Danladi, male, aged 43yrs and one Umar Ismail, male, aged 65yrs of unguwan Mahaukata Bauchi, reported at A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, that one Bala Mohammed ‘m’ aged 67yrs lured their daughters one Safiya (not real name), aged 17yrs and Hassana (not real name), 16yrs both of same address into his room and had carnal knowledge of them and thereafter give them N500.

“The victims stated that he had canal knowledge of them up to five times.

“During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and corroborated the victim’s statement,” he said.

According to him, investigation is still ongoing, after which the suspect will be profiled and charged to court for prosecution.

Similarly, the PPRO said that the Police, on Thursday, also received the report of the alleged rape of a nine-year old girl who lives behind Nitel Office, Bauchi.

According to him, the mother of the girl reported the incident to the Police claiming that the suspect, one Suleiman Musa, a 28-year old, resident of the same address, lures her daughter and raped her while she was running an errand.

He said: “On the 4th July 2024 at about 12.00pm, one Hajiya (not real name), female, of Behind Nitel office Bauchi, reported at A’ Divisional Police Headquarters Bauchi that on the same date at about 11.50am, one Suleiman Musa, male, aged 28 of same address, lured her daughter one Amina (not real name), aged 9, of same address, into his room situated at same area while she was on errand and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.”

Wakil said that during interrogation, the suspect freely confessed to have committed the crime adding that investigation is still ongoing, after which the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution for the established offence.
