He gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja, saying the APC was poised to deliver true dividends of democracy to the people.

Egwuatu noted that the ruling party in Ndokwa East had become insensitive to the people’s plight, saying it must be voted out to bring dividends of democracy to the area.

According to him, the people of the area and Delta in general have been detached from the centre for too long.

He decried the current state of Ndokwa East in terms of development, lack of good roads, electricity and portable water, saying the narrative must change.

The APC candidate, however, noted that this could only happen if the people of the area through the ballot voted in the APC to take charge of the council’s affairs in the coming election.

“The only ways to make the people of Ndokwa East feel the impact of democracy and good governance at the grassroots level, especially, is by voting in the APC in the forthcoming July 13 council election.

“We will deliver dividends of democracy to the nooks and crannies of Ndokwa East and change the narrative when elected into power by the people,” Egwuatu stressed.

He assured that if elected, he would enthrone good governance and bring development to the area by working with relevant stakeholders, government agencies and arms of government.

Egwuatu also promised to bring back the good old days when the council had bulldozers and other heavy duty equipment used to maintain roads, when elected.

He commended the level of turn out and support the APC was currently getting at the grassroots level in Ndokwa East during the campaigns.

According to him, from Aboh, Ibrede, Akarai, Umuoru, Onyah, Iyede-Ame, Ossisa, Ase and Ibedeni communities among others, the turnout of APC’s supporters have been impressive in spite of the fact that it was not in government in Delta.

He particularly commended the party’s members in Ward two, describing the ward as home of the APC having delivered over 90 per cent votes in all positions in 2023 general election.

“In Afor, it was a carnival like campaign as the people did a mini-rally to support the APC campaign team, they promised to repeat the same feat in the forthcoming Local Government Council election.

“At Ibedeni, the people promised to vote massively for APC as they did in 2023 general election when we won all the positions.

“They promised to deliver the party in spite of those that left it recently for other parties,” Egwuatu said.

The APC candidate commended the council’s campaign team, especially Chief Chris Oputa, the campaign coordinator and Chief Tony Ndanenu, one of the party’s chieftains in Delta for giving their best.

Egwuatu, while pledging to deliver on his campaign promises, expressed optimism that the APC would emerge victorious at the poll because it had a more popular candidate, who had the people’s support and blessings.

He charged the electorate to disregard the antics from the ruling party and other opposition parties in the area and come out in their numbers on the Election Day to vote the APC.

“My beloved people of Ndokwa East, we have another opportunity to choose wisely those we can entrust our futures in their hands, and the only right party to vote is the APC.

“Together in unity, we can fix Ndokwa East and address the issues of lack of infrastructural development in the area in the interest of its people,” Egwuatu said.

He expressed confidence that if elected as the council’s next chairman, with his running mate, Ms Nkem Adigwe, he would deliver beyond expectations.(NAN)
