Carney Chukwuemeka and Trevoh Chalobah react as Chelsea sell Omari Hutchinson

Chelsea confirmed a few days ago that they’ve sold Omari Hutchinson, 20, to Ipswich Town.

BBC Sport claims that Ipswich of paid an initial fee of £20m to sign the young winger from Chelsea. This comes immediately after he enjoyed a season-long loan spell with them last year, where he was influential in securing promotion from the Championship.

Hutchinson has celebrated his return to Ipswich on a permanent basis by uploading an Instagram post.

Blues defender Chalobah responded in the comments section with the message: “Time to shine”. Meanwhile, Chukwuemeka reacted with an emoji to highlight how close they are.

Have the Blues made a mistake?

Hutchinson went from strength to strength last year in Ipswich colours. The youngster finished the season with 11 goals and 6 assists across all competitions.

Therefore, some may argue it would have been interesting for Chelsea to promote him into their first team for the upcoming campaign.

Instead, the Blues cashed in and will now play against him this year.

He could have been decent competition for Noni Madueke on the right wing, but his chances of nailing down a permanent starting position looks far greater at Ipswich.
