'This is all on you': Fans blamed Luis de la Fuente for subs that 'killed the game' before Spain scored the winning goal

tribuna.com 2024/10/5

Spain have defeated Germany in a heated match that will be definitely considered one of the best at Euro 2024.

La Furia Roja were the first to score in this match and it even looked like they could double the score using counterattacks. However, Luis de la Fuente made key changes that ruined Spain's potential for attack. Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams and Alvaro Morata left the field with Ferran Torres, Mikel Merino and Mikel Oyarzabal changing them.

Germany, on the other hand, improved their performance with the subs and even scored a goal. Football fans were ready to blame De la Fuente.

@walkingtoglory: "De la Fuente this is all on you and ur stupid subs."

@sneakygambit: "Taking off all of their attacking outlets.. scatty subs, a real nasty work. spain manager is taking the piss."

@The_Mr_factos: "Why sub off Lamine Yamal on the 62nd minute. This Spain coach is confused."

@AlbicelesteX: "Why do top Managers sub out their best players with one goal lead? I really Don't understand it."

@cmbftbl: "Why did De La Fuente sub off both Nico Williams & Yamal? There was space in behind and you take off your best two outlets? Allowed yourself to get pinned in."

@mr_chown: "Poor subs from Spain changed the game IMO."

De la Fuente had the last laugh, though, with Mikel Merino scoring a winner in 119' from Olmo's cross. Seems like Spanish coach actually knew what he was doing with all those subs.
