For years, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been synonymous with each other. It’s hard to list the achievements of just one of these players when you have two bonafide greatest players of all time playing in the same era. However, there are times when people go too far while comparing the two icons, with many putting down one to elevate the other!

Well, it seems like former Manchester United star Tomasz Kuszczak is exhausted of fans comparing the two players. Kuszczak in an interview with DAZN talked about how it’s disrespectful, how fans constantly weigh Cristiano Ronaldo’s achievements against Lionel Messi.

The ex-United star claimed, “I do think that Cristiano Ronaldo has been disrespected. There is all this talk regarding who is better between him and Lionel Messi. I had the chance to train with him and play with him for a couple of years. He has proved everything in football wherever he has been.”

Kuszczak then added, “He has always been effective and shown he can be a leader. He deserves 100% respect, but it is difficult to say what he is like now because the Saudi Pro League is not a top league. But Ronaldo is Ronaldo. For his country, he has been amazing over the years.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has been crucial to Portugal’s success in recent months. The veteran emerged as the team’s top scorer during the EURO Qualifiers, helping them make it to the main stages of the tournament. With Portugal looking to get their hands on the European title, their success could depend on Cristiano’s performance.

Tomasz Kuszczak thinks Cristiano Ronaldo can give the ‘extra spark’ for Portugal

Many critics have doubted Cristiano’s abilities to deliver at the highest stage at the age of 39. Yet, Tomasz Kuszczak believes the player still has what it takes to lead the team from the front. Talking to DAZN, Kuszczak claimed the Portuguese talisman still has a lot of game left in him and can easily go on for the next couple of years.

He also added, “As a Portugal team at the tournament, he will give you an extra spark, even though he is reaching an age where he might start speaking about retirement, but look at the way he looks even now. Being back in the European football spotlight, it’s going to be a massive motivation for him.”

Cristiano has been on top of his game this season, emerging as the top scorer for Al Nassr. He is undoubtedly a silver lining for the team’s subpar season and will look to continue to do so in the coming years.
