Chelsea made their biggest signing of the summer transfer window so far earlier this week.

Chelsea completed the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City in a deal worth £30m (BBC).

The 25-year-old central midfielder becomes the latest player to leave the King Power Stadium and make the switch to Stamford Bridge.

Similarly, Enzo Maresca left his role as Leicester boss this summer after guiding them to promotion from the Championship.

He’s now the new Chelsea head coach and knows all about what Dewsbury-Hall can bring on the pitch.

Conor Gallagher tells Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall story

Chelsea and England midfielder Conor Gallagher has reacted very positively to the signing of Dewsbury-Hall.

He’s actually told a very interesting tale about when he came up against him last season in the FA Cup.

Chelsea ended up beating Leicester 4-2 in the FA Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge, but many of the Foxes players impressed.

When asked about his new club teammate Dewsbury-Hall, Gallagher told talkSPORT: “He’s a top player.

“He had an incredible season last season.

“Even when he played Chelsea at the Bridge [in the FA Cup], he was very good.

“I remember trying to get the ball off him and thinking he’s a good player.

“We’re really happy and delighted to have him at the club. I’m sure he’s going to be brilliant.”

Chelsea midfield is stacked

The Chelsea Chronicle feels like the squad is in a very healthy place when it comes to their options in the midfield positions.

Let’s see how Maresca puts together his preferred combination in the centre of the park.

On top of Dewsbury-Hall and Gallagher, the Blues can call upon stars such as Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Lesley Ugochukwu, Carney Chukwuemeka or Andrey Santos. There’s also Cole Palmer as a viable option to play in the No 10 position.
